How Changes in the Professional Level Can Affect You?

In September 2018 the Professional level of the ACCA Qualification is changing to Strategic Professional. As part of this change, the P1, P2, and P3 exams are being replaced following the June 2018 exam session. This means only the March and June sessions remain to sit these exams. How this change affects you depends on where you are on your ACCA journey. But if you have passed or are planning to take any of the P1, P2 or P3 exams it is important to understand your options. Which exams have you already passed?

• You’ve passed P1, P2, and P3

The changes won’t affect you. Your passes for P1 and P3 will be converted into a pass for the Strategic Business Leader exam. Your pass for P2 will be converted into a pass for
the new Strategic Business Reporting exam. You should carry on with any outstanding Options exams and keep working towards membership.

• You haven’t passed P1, P2 or P3

You have three options:

1. Attempt P1 and P3 in March or June If you choose this option, you’ll need to pass both of these exams by the June 2018 session. If you don’t, you’ll be required to take the new Strategic Business Leader exam.

2. Attempt P2 in March or June If you pass P2 in March or June, this will be converted into a pass for the new Strategic Business Reporting exam. Whilst there will be no
changes in the syllabus content, the style of the new exam will be different – taking a more holistic view of reporting.

3. Focus on your Options exams This will enable you to start working towards the Strategic Professional exams ready for the September session.

• You’ve passed either P1 or P3 – but not both

You need to pass P1 and P3 to get a converted pass for the new Strategic Business Leader exam. This means you need to pass the outstanding exam in March or June 2018. If
you don’t, you’ll lose the pass you already have – and you’ll be required to pass the new Strategic Business Leader exam to progress with your qualification.

• You’ve passed P2 – but not P1 or P3

Your pass for P2 will be converted into a pass for the Strategic Business Reporting exam.
You have two options:

1. Attempt P1 and P3 in March or June If you choose this option, you’ll need to pass both of these exams by the June 2018 session. If you don’t, you’ll be required to pass the new Strategic Business Leader exam.

2. Focus on your Options exams You could decide to focus on any outstanding Options  exams and start working towards the Strategic Business Leader exam ready for the
September session.

If you haven’t completed the Ethics and Professional Skills module yet, this will support
your success in Professional or Strategic Professional exams.
